And to avoid the necessity to "validate" each XP install if any
hardware requires replacement, I understand. :-) 

This is why quite a few businesses continue to use W2K and this
is what may hurt Vista more than M$ expects it to.

I don't play games on my computer and have no knowledge of what
works and/or does not work for game playing on a PC.

Unfortunate?

I've been a proponent of W2K for some time now. Many believe
that W2K is the best OS M$ ever sold. I tend to agree with that
even though I am using WinXP-MCE here. I do have W2K on one of
my virutal PCs.
