CA> you get "corporate licensing" in that?

I understood him to say that he has a bulk license rule that applies
to donated (but not purchased) hardware. Whether or not there is
a technical process (key, etc.) that overrides or removes the inherent
 re-activation requirements, I don't know.

CA>> This is why quite a few businesses continue to use W2K and

RF> Disagree. W2K is a true business product. It has, among
RF> other features the ability to join a domain, which lends
RF> itself immediately to networking as a workstation in the

CA> As a reply to what I have typed the above makes absolutely NO

It makes sense in that W2K probably doesn't won't compete with Vista,
at least to any significant degree, as W2K is a business OS and Vista
 will be a home OS.

RF> XP is the successor to the 9X/ME line, or a true home

RF> Whether MS intends to keep the business and home lines
RF> separate, or blend them is unclear at this point AFAIK (I
RF> am aware that Longhorn Server is scheduled to replace 2003
RF> Server), but Vista appears to be another home targeted

CA> Not sure where you get your information or why you feel the
CA> need to "define" Vista here but you are obviously lost.

Microsoft has already defined the lines and they have been discussed
here in detail, perhaps with the exception of Vista. Clearly, though
Vista is the successor to XP and not W2K.

RF> Suffice it to say that the hardware (especially video) is

 CA>> Unfortunate?

RF> If you want computer games, W2K is not your OS.

CA> I will concede to your greater expertise at game playing on
 CA> computers.

 Robert Fowler
