George the above house reference caught my eye.
My house has burglar bars on every window and door. One would have to
actually saw the bars off making a big enough hole to get into my house.
The back garage door is burglar barred. The overhead garage door is
padlocked on the inside so it can't possibly be opened from the outside.
Even a burglar bar gate over the entire back sliding glass door at the
patio.

In other words for some one to get into my house they would have to cut
a hole in a wall or garage door (the garage door is visible from the
street so that wouldn't seem too likely.

In spite of all this protection thieves DID get into my house rather
quickly and easily while we were in Taos, NM.

First, they knew we were gone - my travel trailer, normally parked in
the back side yard, was gone!  They couldn't hacksaw through the bars -
they tried!

Broke into my tool shed, got a folding ladder out and used a battery
skill saw (no 110 available outside my house) to saw a hole in the roof
and came in through the attic!!!

If they had been able to start my car I would have been stripped.
I had disabled it.

If a thief wants into your house bad enough there just isn't much of any
way to stop him.

Burglaries became rife here when all the apartments in this area went
Section 8!
