Not in Michigan, no. The majority seem to have WinMCE
pre-loaded (WinXP Pro).

Probably not. I'm told that the WinXP 64 bit is aimed more at
businesses than home users.

Dell or Gateway or Lenovo are not what I would consider 'bell
weathers' for what is being purchased right now. HP is once
again the leader among the vendors of pre-installed systems
retailers and I can't recall having seen a 'home' anything
offered by HP on anything they advertise.

Yes, I have the impression the 64 bit XP is business oriented
not 'home' user oriented.

Only by Dell. Others are offering WinXPMCE on the 64 bit
systems.

Only Redmond has accurate information and they haven't been
very forth-coming about Vista recently. Have you noticed how
quiet Redmond is? 

It's worth noting that PC magazines have suddenly lost the ability
to test hardware and make comparisons.  Everyone who earns a living
expressing opinions about PC hardware and software has become tongue
tied and marble-mouthed when making comparisons.

When I recently purchased a new system no one in the store seemed
to know that WinXPMCE is XP-Pro and none of the sales people had
noticed the faster AMD front side bus speeds over Intel processor
based systems.  There is a noticeable dumbing down of everyone
involved and an unwillingness to make ANY recommendations whatsoever.

The $200 Linspire machines were located around a corner out of sight
behind a dolley full of boxes which made me laugh for awhile.  This
was at the most knowledgeable and most complete computer store I could
find.

FIDO users aren't a great deal more informative if you discount the
"I suspect" and other vague opinions that stretch much too far into
the unknown future of PCs and PC software.
