It's not only the SN which is hard coded but also the specific model
(designated by firmware call) that's likewise hard coded.

There are Nero OEM versions which are generic.  The one I have
(version 5.5) will work with a large number of CD and DVD burners.  As
a matter of fact the list is rather long.  You can purchase an OEM
version of Nero from most NET discounters.  Don't confuse that with an
OEM version supplied by a hardware maker and specific for that piece
of hardware only.

OK.  OEM Nero Express is a "different color horse".  That, as you say
will only work with the hardware it was designed for.  My OEM version
is actually no different than purchasing from Ahead.  The exception to
the difference is in the licensing.

Hey at least you seniors in Canada get a fairly decent medical plan
and prescription drugs.  Might be something our US politicians could
learn from.  But I won't hold my breath.  <g>
