I'd try turning the checkbox off, click OK and then reset it.  Sometimes 
you have to brute force your way through things.

Some software still installs as if there's only one user on the computer 
and, even though it's NT/W2K/XP-compatible, you have to be an 
administrator to install it and it will not put things like shortcuts in 
All Users.  Very bad practice but there you have it.

Certainly, she can create a shortcut for the app on her own desktop 
**BUT** the software may not work if she's not an administrator.  She'll 
have to try it out to see.  When this is the case, sometimes I'll change 
the shortcut properties to run as another user so a prompt for a 
password can be used rather than to log out.  It's clumsy and you may 
have to change the default location for the data files so she can access 
the files easily (by default, you can't look into the Administrator's 
folders unless you're an administrator).  Trial and error.  You may also 
want to go to the Palm support site to see if there's newer software 
that works better...

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to but it sounds like it's 
using a network connection.  The only way I know of to do this is that 
the check mark next to the "Automatically search for network folders and 
printers" is on (the default).  Turn it off by using Tools, Folder 
Options from an Explorer window (or use the Folder Options control 
panel), select the View tab and look at the first selection at the top 
of the list.

Of course, it may be that the printer responds to XP's poking at 
hardware sufficiently for XP to think it can set it up without any other 
drivers.  Use of the CD (or other installer) should fix that.  It's 
worth noting that if this is the case, the directions for setting the 
printer up weren't followed.  Many times, with new printers, you're not 
supposed to attach the printer before the drivers are loaded to prevent 
this "chicken and egg" scenario.  During the install process, you should 
be prompted to turn on/attach the printer and all should be well with 
the world.

Seems odd but I could easily see problems popping out all over the place 
because of this.  I'd delete both installs and reinstall only the 
desired version.  If the uninstall fails you may have to reinstall just 
so you can get a clean uninstall - talk about a time waster...
