Maybe it's time to yield. After you go thru the hoops 
to get a cell phone cheap, you can get the service for
as little as $3.05 a month plus 10 cents a minute 
of airtime (and some miscellaneous fees.) Another
place offers $4.59 a month which allows 47 minutes in
air time (plus the same miscellaneous fees.) 

Once you get to $9 a month, the deals are everywhere.

Well, let's see ... two phenes = $6.10 ... 20 minutes airtime = $2.
Doesn't sound like much. $8.10

Tracfone offers extremely cheap handsets. $95 a year is $8
a month ... allows 12 minutes a month ... more minutes are 33 cents.

Virgin wants about $80 a year -- $6.75 a month ... allows
about 37 minutes a month ... more minutes are 18 cents.

My highest cell usage ever was 96 minutes of prime time and
146 minutes of weekend. ... less than $25 from STI or T-Mobile.

If you need allota minutes these pre-paid plans don't work...

Also difficult to do with a inexpensive plan - although 
Cinguar and Verizon and others *do* offer it.
