I wrote these status messages after my power was restored but before Charter
repaired things.

Well once you saw this message as delivered to you via my NNTP server or if you
logged in elsewhere and read it, my system evidently was online to allow
propogation.

I am told service was restored around 2pm or so.

I have seen reviews from all over the country in which Charter was rated bad in
the service and reliability dept. I cannot say the same, I have had relatively
positive experiences with them. I cannot say the same for when things were with
the @HOME service. @HOME's service and reliability was horrible.

My secret to a quick return online was, once I was assurred the power company
was going to have my power restored, including replacing the pole by day break,
I called Charter last night and set up the service call.

My initial service drop went to the back corner of the house opposite side from
the power and phone line service drops, when the Charter guys came this AM,
they ran the new drop properly ie same location as for power and phone, he said
that when he cut the old aerial line into smaller pieces for disposal purposes,
he found it full of water. Probably explains the other sporadic outages I had,
when we had a cold snap back in december, we experienced what they called suck
out, in which the filament contracts and contact is lousy, with that water
inside the line, its no wonder.

I have no complaints with Charter, however unlike you, they are my only option
for broadband, cant get DSL.
