I'm not sure I understand why you would want to clone each drive if
all you wish to do is back them up?  I routinely backup my 80 Gb NTFS
formatted drive which contains XP Home and data to an external USB 2.0
drive.  Instead of cloning (which is an exact sector by sector copy) I
create an image and place it on the external USB drive.  Using high
compression and verify gives me a very reliable backup.  I can extract
files and folders from the image if I desire.  No need to restore the
entire image but that likewise can done easy enough.

That's a true statement from Acronis and serves as a warning.  When
cloning the contents of one drive to another, the destination drive
will be cleaned first, and then overwritten.  No chance to reclaim the
data that was on the destination drive.

Possibly.  I wouldn't take the chance though especially if you need
whatever is on the first drive.  What you're planning on doing could
be unpredictable - not knowing if the program would selectively leave
the first partition untouched.  Personally, I wouldn't chance it
without testing first.

Also, don't pay much attention to drive letter assignments when using
Acronis True Image.  As long as you give your drives\partitions
labels, use those instead for ID rather than the letter.  BTW, Acronis
uses standard DOS drive letter assignments.  Sometimes that can be
confusing.

start to move more stuff in.
