I do not have cable.

While reading this thread I thought about the "cable ready tv sets" that
have been sold for some time.

My 19" Zenith can be changed from Antenna to either 2 or 3 versions of
Cable signals.

I would think that since the Decoder is inside the TV set You and Your
wife could be watching 2 different channels and a grandkid visitor could
watch something else in one other of the 2 remaining rooms where you
have tv sets.

I only have 1 tv set, but I have a VCR and a Combo VCR/DVD unit.

My rotatable tv antennas' feed line goes to a AC powered Amplifier and
it has 4 F output connectors on it.

I feed my 2 VCR boxes with 2 of the output connectors and have 72 Ohm
Resistors screwed in the 2 unused outputs.

The 2 different VCR units outputs go to a A-B Switch that has the common
F terminal going to the Antenna Input of my tv set.

You probably have a simuliar(sp?) arrangement at Your home.

I don't see why receiving HDTV through a convertor wouldn't allow
different channels to be viewed at Your house.

But I have no idea if the Convertors that will be sold will be like
those first Cable Boxes that were Tuneable and you had to have the tv
set on only one channel to use it.

The new Cable boxes, like I have seen at my brothers house, aren't
tuneable, they allow all the cable channels to go to the tvs Antenna
Input connector and the tv tuner handles changing channels.

But again I did say above "I have no idea" so I probably don't know what
I'm talking about EXCEPT for my own tv setup.  ;-]
