I should be OK then.  AFAICT, my LJ-6L is pretty much identical to your
LJ-5L, except for print speed of 6ppm vs 4 ppm.  Meanwhile, I bought a 6
foot name-brand cable on Ebay for about $7.50, shipped.

Unfortunately, the networking situation here is a bit of a botch right
now, thanks to my Son-in-Law.  I got this machine for Christmas, and my
SIL tried to set it up.  I already had both wireless router and desktop
adapter on-hand (both are D-Link AirPlus G.  He couldn't get the
wireless network working reliably and up to speed while encrypted, so he
brought over an ethernet cable and connected this machine up to the ADSL
modem, which is across the room.  The cable is draped over the carpet,
and my dumb young labradoodle pup has chewed it in two - - It's sitting
on the floor still, and I have twist-connected the wires back together.

I'd have a go myself at getting the wireless network going, but too lazy
and don't feel I can spare the time.  Meanwhile, the ethernet is working
OK.
