Then you can use the basic or premium editions w/o issue.

If you have an existing machine you wish to upgrade to vista, be sure to run
the MS upgrade advisor, available from the M$ web site. It will scan your
machine and tell you of the compatibility issues you may face plus give you a
printable list of things to do pre-upgrade install and post-upgrade install.

I upgraded one of my windows boxes to Vista Premium, and kept the other XP Pro.

Issues I encountered of note:

AVG AV+Firewall Pro, latest release, Firewall wouldnt load and resident AV
shield wont load, Grisoft confirms..

Solution:

I went and got Kaspersky AV, then I use Windows FW since I aint blatently
exposing the machine past the LAN.

Printers and hardware:

Brother HL-2070 attached to machine via USB, Vista picked up on it right away
and it is ok.

Epson CX7800 AIO Printer, Copier, Scanner.. wont work, Epson has yet to provide
an updated driver.

APC Biometric finger print scanner, stopped working, no updated driver yet.

I have a Netgear network storage device on the lan, proprietary drivers by
Zetera, allow access to the 2 250gb hdd's it houses. driver emulates scsi,
drives technically show up as local drives, well no updated drivers yet.

I have another network storage device on the lan made by buffalo, a 250gb hdd,
it is accessible as it uses netbios networking, nothing proprietary.

Other Software:

My fidonet reading node is on the vista box, to which I use ssh to access, all
is console based software, it continues to work without issue.

Getting a machine with Vista already on it will require less work.

XP is still available for sale.
