        First of all, my apologies for coming back on here. Lately as
    it is, I got away for a week and you might have had the impression
    that I was pulling a "CA". Not in the least. I went to my son's
    place down the St-Lawrence and took my Thinkpad but I left behind
    the PS and it ran out of juice quite early as it was not fully
    loaded when I left. I had also left behind the WL cardbus. I tried
    connecting the RJ45 from his AP, I could talk to it but it, being
    a *ac device would not reply. Darn, no FIDO for 9 days. Thousands
    and thousands of snow and Canada geese.

        So, to catch up on your above comment, the fan is a 12 v unit
    and now runs fine on the resuscitated eMachine. It has not shut
    down yet on account of an overheat. There are other problems
    though, I can not get a better screen resolution than 400-600. I
    am looking for a video driver that would give me better control
    over this. I also need a large HD than the test item of 1.6 g, it
    will not hold much, these days.

        Jeff, it is nice to be back on a working KB and chatting with
    all here. I hope that your despair on missing me did not go too
    far.  ( despair ??? )

        The hang up was caused by the two CD devices being both
    masters. I had been too casual in placing them in, now, it boots
    very fast.

...         is now humming, got to load an OS.
