And that's why every rescue personel are trained to find the ICE number in
every cell phone on the market so they can do the call for you.

The system isn't made that way. You would get a too long range so the system
can't handle the switching between the towers when you move. I don't know
exactly how many towers the system can handle during a call but if you have
too many available the system doesn't work properly and might disconnect your
call. And if you have a powerful repeater in a city you can reach perhaps over
50 bas-stations and that is not accepted by the system.
To check this and tell the system where the cell is the cell does a AU
(Allocation
Update) rather often.

Yes and it is automatic plugged in when I put the cell in the cradle/charger.

The best is to put up another accesspoint. Otherwise you would have to carry
this repeater too and a powersource/battery for it.

I've never heard of it and it wouldn't work with the GSM system we have and we
don't need it as you can see on the cover-maps I sent a link to in another msg.
Those who need a better coverage do have an external gain-antenna and that is
sufficiently.
