Hard for me to comment, since I rarely run it that way... as with most media
players, the stated battery life when running videos (where you'd want the
screen on all the time) is much shorter than when playing music-- where the
screen auto-blanks. The advertised battery life is 22 hrs for music playback
and 5 hrs for video. A C/Net review said their test model actually lasted an
average of 23 hrs for music and 6 hrs for movies.

Note that while 'jail broken' (i.e. hacked) iPhones and iPod Touches are able
to be used with 3rd-party e-book readers, nothing has been released (either by
Apple or 3rd parties) to do this for non-hacked models. I haven't 'jail
breaked' my Touch- with the recent release of the official Software Development
Kit, I'm expecting more applications- hopefully including an e-book reader to
be forthcoming.
