No remembering since it's read-only media and the RAM gets wiped with power
cycles.  Maybe you tried it on a different laptop that it recognized the
hardware on?  No matter, as long as you can do what you need.

The gParted CD is very stripped down and likely won't even offer any network
services.  At the point where you had to type the command to actually partition
the drive, you could use whatever commands are available in that stripped down
OS, maybe things like "cd", "ls" (analogous to "dir"), etc.  Probably doesn't
have a lot of capability to keep the size down, more like DOS than Windows.
