JG and Alan were mentioning the ActiveX part to IE, is what runs the actual
'remote control' functions of the M$ updates. I was able to update my IE4
*only* because I had Firefox (Mozilla) installed. IE4 reported it was "Done"
loading the pages, and there was nothing but a blank screen visible to me. Now,
once I retrieved IE6setup.exe - or whatever its name is - and then had IE6
running, was I then able to access the ActiveX controlled functions to the
update engine.

AFAIK, the only functions that do not work with FF is ActiveX. IE has to
compete directly with the FF browser, so M$ can not afford to be a slouch
either. I am swaying to FF somewhat from my anti-M$ default mode, but having
not worked with FF for any length of time, we will see. Its predecessor, was
MILES ahead of IE for a LONG time. Many attribute this fact, to why M$ had to
spend so much to dominate the market. The *free* market that M$ dictated! There
is a very valid reason for so much discontent from former Windows customers,
and this is just a small part of it.
