I've heard that crazy EULA stuff about not owning it, and only owning the right
to use it, which I consider bolognie.  But even if you agree with their
license, then my original point still stands. If you paid for the right to use
it, then why does it matter what disc you use to install it from which enables
you to in fact use it?  You're still getting what you paid for.
 
Also, I feel it's important to point out that it's impossible to "give away" XP
or Vista. They require activation, and unless you gave someone a legit license
key along with it, then they didn't get anything for free, just a useless disc
that won't get past the install process.  The only way they can use a copied
version is if they have some random license key and its activation is cracked,
which breaks other rules altogether.  Otherwise you have to have a legit key,
which is basically what you're buying when you pay for the OS.
 
Just to show you how lame Microsoft's license is, if you buy a copy of XP or
Vista, you're not allowed to sell it to someone else.  I believe this includes
even if it's still in the plastic.  They sued somebody on Ebay before for
trying to do it. Just some average dude, I remember reading. He tried to fight
it, and I believe he may have won. But the fact that the EULA is written in a
way which tries to legally bind you from selling your property is ridiculous,
and merely one more example of why I don't tend to bother with EULAs.
