Making copy *one* of an original disk, has - as I understand it - became a
defacto standard. Many end user license agreements, even forbids *this*, but it
could be disputed in a court of law, and I believe it has been fought
successfully somewhere in the US. THAT copy would be acceptable for installing
THAT package. Make a second copy... Legally indefensible. Install THAT copy to
two machines... Nix-nix!

I do think you are also blurring the line between a license agreement, and a
boxed release? Yes, there are distributable licenses, where you would install
'packages' to nodes on a network for example, but we are talking about burning
floppies, to keep an original box shrink wrapped on the shelf. This preserves
the resale "license", and the end user *is* AFAI understand it, breaking
copyrite law in any court, sans maybe some backwater countries.

Different distribution method. Different license agreement. Akin to buying
x-number of licenses, and installing it to x*4-number of machines. Technically,
you may have purchased 4* the boxes you opened, but you could resell those
unopened boxes the day after an audit. That is why an audit of your
installation mode would never fly.

100%, I agree with that argument. The inference remains, that I have to procure
that code by illicit means.

I know I will not be jailed in Taiwan for doing it, but it *is* a principle
that is legitimate.
