You may be right.  I'm going by what some Mac users of the faster drives  have
stated.  The new MacBooks are very tightly enclosed within a plastic case
(small form factor) and have no exhaust vents.  The warm exhaust air is
dissipated by convection up through the keyboard area and possibly through
other openings in the case itself.

The system fan normally spins at 1800 RPM with a CPU temp of around 45 degrees
C.  The HD (mine right now) is at 26 degrees C.  Some users who have replaced
their HDs with larger and faster models have reported higher temps and
overworking of the fan.  I'm not entirely convinced that those larger and
faster HDs run as cool as the smaller and slower ones.  I'd like to see some
tests.  Tom's Hardware site maybe?

Two days ago I cloned my HD to an external USB drive.  During the process my
CPU temp increased to 70 degrees C and the fan was spinning at around 3000 RPM.
 Got a bit loud. :)
