I wonder why it needs to reboot?  Remembering the same procedure from XP it did
not have to reboot to unmount the HDD.  In XP it uses a "shadow" copy to make
the image.  Since I'm not familiar with Vista, I don't know if that method of
copying to image can be used.  Vista has tighter security and does not allow
kernel mode drivers to operate but I'm sure since TI-10 has the Vista OK label
on it, it should work.

Very strange.  Could be the drive did not dismount properly or something else
was running and interfered?

You could of course remove TI and do a reinstall if you wish but I'm not sure
that would resolve the problem.  Won't hurt though.  Since the recovery TI CD
works OK, that says the HD is OK.  It almost sounds like something is
interfering with TI or preventing it from making the copy while Vista is
active.

TI has been known to release buggy software, so I would not be surprised if
they have already fixed that "problem" in a later release.  Go to their update
page and see if there's a newer build of TI 10 than you're using.  If so,
download it and update your copy.

Great, glad to hear.  Those large external HDs are getting less expensive. 
More than we can say for gasoline prices! :(
