Ärende: BW cum ZOC.

JG> JG>> BTW, BW and ZOC are definitely overkill... (HI, JEAN!)

JG> JP> You more than likely have forgotten this over the years, Jeff,
JG> JP> but using ZOC over Doc's Place, the BBS marks the read messages as
JG> JP> read and it is also possible to untag them and D/L a .qwk again.

JG>No forgetting! That's prolly the only thing the old-fashioned way has over
JG>new-fangled. It's a server-side thing, not ZOC or OLR, but it's of such lit
JG>importance to me that I'll gladly stay on NNTP.

Jeff,

I use Doc's Place as Jean does, but I do it the HTML way instead of
TELNET.

When I looked around Doc's some time back, I found the area where all
the older .QWK files are stored.

I decided to delete all but the last months .QWKs, so it could free up a
little spot on his hard drive.

Each month now I will go to that area and delete the previous months
.QWK data.

I makes me feel good that I'm not hogging extra unwanted space on Doc's
Server. ;-)

I save interesting (to me) messages that I find in the different FIDO
Echos so I can refer to them later on.

Real interesting messages I'll even print al la Jeans method.

It has been some time since I have been on NNTP and I can't remember if
it allows one to save individual messages to disk or print them out.

If I ever think about it when I try NNTP again I'll see if OE allows it.

I'm stuck in the mud (RTC) with using SLMR except when a messages text
is over 148 lines long and then I use an old DOS copy of MultiMail.

MM allows messages to be Saved or Printed too.

If I start using U'U more often than XP I will grab a LINUX copy of MM
to use with it.

Both MM and SLMR (and Jeans Blue Wave) are nice .QWK handling programs.

I started using SLMR while using Dial-up BBSs so I wouldn't be on the
phone line 30 minutes (or an hour) and max out my allowed users time on
the BBS.

I remember a Apple II BBS that wouldn't let me log in a second time,
after I had used up my alloted time, UNLESS at least one other caller
had logged on to the BBS.

I remember one afternoon waiting a couple of hours before I'd get a
BUSY Signal on the L/L indicating somebody else had logged on to use the
BBS so that I could log in againg that night to read more messages.

That was way back in my PrePC days when I used a Commodore C=64. ;-)

P.S. I like your current Tagline.
