I use MS Word 6 and occassionally someone will send me a email in .DOC
format, but they are using a newer version of Word and I find that it is
NOT backward compatible with my old Word 6.

So I just start up V. Buergs LIST program and open the message in it and
happily skip all the bloat at the top of the message and proceed to read
the text the person sent to me.   :-)

One thing I've noticed when reading a Word .DOC file in LIST is the text
appears in small sections of the full message and then finally starts
the whole text of the message somewhat later on.
Talk about Bloat! I prefer ASCII over Bloat.
Of course, I don't have or know of any ASCII word processor that has a
Spell Checker in it.
OR maybe I do? I have a TSEjr but I haven't used it much to know if it
checks for spelling or not.
