        I did have a Canon apart w while back and saw this diaper,
   nice terminology, full of ink. It gets it all from the park
   position and the ransom wipe it gets done after a few lines.

        I do better because I do this refill "before" it runs dry. I
   would venture close to 90% success here.

        You hit that one square on the head. Most users will turn off
   their systems without parking the head, it dries up and clogs the
   injectors. This is then a tough proposition in dissolving the dried
   up ink. Fantastik has been good to me.

        I have a Canon, well a few, that will accept an only black
   tank, it is larger than both twin tanks and prints forever, the
   BC20 tank. I like the Canon line as it also allows the use of a
   scanner head, colour, no need to carry a full scanner when moving.
   Their profile on a desktop is also minimal as compared to other
   printers.

        Too late ! They do complain a lot and I removed the Lexmark SW
   and rely on the Vista included one. Runs just as smooth. I have
   clicked on the "Print in black only" option, saves time. I have not
   found out if it sees that a .doc is all in black and disregards the
   colour option in toto. so, I try to keep ahead of it.

        See above comment. Your note is well received, it is quite
   mature. I pay great attention to your comments, you seem to be a
   "professional" user of printers, I am not that great a one but when
   needed, I want it to work. I still use a portable IBM 5183, battery
   powered too. It prints a page in >3 minutes but is small and easy
   to tote. I got a bunch of tapes a few years ago, the printing burns
   some celluloid to the paper, I am set for the next 30 summers. ;-)
     
       
...    Ubuntu has been side-lined for the time being.
