Apple Mail doesn't get the same sort of bloat as, say Microsoft's Outlook or OE
as number of mail message increases, but certainly there can be slowdowns in OS
X over time.

Some of that can be fixed with a reinstall, but a mail program slowed down by
excessive messages will still be slow if the overly-large message base is
restored- regardless of program or operating system.

When users complain of system slowness-- regardless of platform, it can be for
a variety of reasons-- only some of which are due to accumulated OS-sludge.

It may be worth checking the list of startup programs-- email me and I'll tell
you how to do it in OS X.

Are they really complaining about Internet connection speed issues? Browser
performance issues?
