Jean,

The .SY_ file is one of those that you have to use EXPAND.EXE to expand
it into a .SYS file.

Probably Jeff G., Alan or Charles has already responded to your .SY_
question but just in case they didn't here's my responce.

I didn't get a restore CD when I bought my HP.

They just ask the user to make a set of CDs or DVDs that holds all the
original software installed on the box when it was shipped from the
manufacturer.

I noticed that Office Depot is still selling XP Home and XP
Professional, but not at a reduced price.

I didn't look at Vistas price but I suppose the cost of Vista and XP Pro
is probably about the same.

I'm glad I heard about Acronis True Image from folks here.

If I ever have the Hard Drive on this box go belly up I have a recent
backup to return to instead of the Recovery Disk Set that HP asked me to
make when I got the box.

I'd hate to have to start from Square One all over again.

Speaking of that, I had removed Symatech's software from the Control
Panel long ago, but AT&T-Yahoo DSL decided to stop using CAs antivirus
and the ZoneAlarm firewall and at the beginning of this year replaced
them with Symatech branded software.

It didn't really help me to remove the Included software that came from
Symatech did it?

I guess as long as they keep things updated I ought to be glad.

I get very few requests to allow things since I started (Re)using
Symatech programs on this box.
