Anytime that you go inside the Case and touch
componets on the Motherboard, you risk Zapping something
with a Static charge that may FRY something..

If that the case, Your SOL, and you would be
Lucky if you can salvage your Video card, Hard drives,
CD/DVD dives and Modem, etc


[ here is my two cents worth ]

You did say you heard no Beeps or sound
when turning on the Computer..

Here are a few tips to try to salvage your old
motherboard..

remove all the Cards from the Motherboard
and unplug the HD/Floppy/CD/DVD


and re-install the Video card and hook up
the monitor, and the Keyboard but not the
Hard drives Floppys or CD/DVD..


then Plug in the power card and turn
the computer and Monitor ON..

check to see if the Power supply Fan is turning
and if you have a CPU cooling fan that it is working

the listen for the Bios/Keyboard beeps if any
and if the Bios Info is displayed on the Monitor..

If you get this Far OK, the shut down the computer
Unplug it and slowly re-install the other cards
one at a time and test them out and hook up the
HD/Floppy and CD/DVD and Modem...

There is a chance that your Bios Setting may have
gotten scewed up and no does not recognize your
HD etc..

if this is the case then reboot the computer and
hold down the whatever key to access the BIOS SETUP
screen, usually <ESC> or F8
usually displey on the Creen when the Bios Copyright
is displayed..

Then set the HD Drive detection on AUTO Detect
and the BIOS Setting back to DEFAULT Settings Option

and save and exit the Bios Setup and Reboot..

another problem that can Occure is when some cable to
the Motherboard or to the Back of the HD or other
devise is not seated fully..


and a few times I have had to remove and Re-seat the
Cards in the Motherboard slots

If your still having problems with the Memory
you may have to Reseat or re-arange or even swap
out the memory..


******> If you did not get any Beeps or
Bios Info didplayed, then chances are that you
Fried the Bios or the Motherboard and you next
step is to try another Motherboard..
