Despite what "the whole world says", no computer interface is intuitive. We all
need to have the metaphors pointed out to us. After that, it's up to
individuals to want to learn, and to take time to explore and play around--
some of us are prepared to do that, others aren't.

That said, the Mac is- in general- more consistent, and most often, takes fewer
steps to do many (but not all!) common tasks. On the other hand, less common
tasks are often buried even deeper than in Windows.

This morning, I got an email from someone- apparently a teen-aged girl in the
Philippines, asking me to "tell her everything I know about Microsoft Publisher
97" so that she can write a school report.

I replied that "everything I know" consists of 3 things:

1) All software is discoverable- take time to check out the menu and toolbar
items
2) When in doubt, right-click
3) Specific to MS Publisher: F9 switches between whole page and magnified
views.

All else is just details... and she should spend the time to find them out for
herself.
