Pinball.sys was originally included with NT 3.5 and was optionally included as
an add on for NT 4.0.  The reasoning at the time was that MS was still
supporting their early versions of OS/2 (before the split with IBM) and those
systems using HPFS had to be able to be read-write capable from NT.

Later on when Win2000 was published, MS was no longer supporting their early
versions of OS/2 and did not include pinball.sys.  However, several
enterprising folks found out they could use an older copy of pinball.sys
extracted from NT 3.5 or 4.0 and make it work from W2K.

But pinball.sys no longer works when placed in XP.  MS apparently did something
or changed something.  If you have HPFS data that you need to read or write to,
you'll need to either install WARP or use one of the methods above.
