BIOS firmware is locked at 4 Meg.
There is no way to alter this setting.
That's what Winodws 98 used before I nuked it.

Dmesg on boot indicates agpgart-intel setting AGP apeture at 64Meg.

F1 here and up comes video, unalterable at 4 Meg.
Nevertheless Linux assigns 64Meg

Now since this came with Win 98 the BIOS could not have set the 
ATI Mach 64 at 64 meg because there were only two 32 meg sticks 
in the machine at that time.

Again, as I say, the BIOS video setting is unalterable from it's 4 Meg
setting.

I've a choice of onboard or legacy but there is no legacy card.
I could put in a PCI NVIDIA 128 but googling that indicates a minimum power
requirement of 30 watts with some suggesting more.

I've a 145 watt PS here and most recommendations I saw said
go for 250 watt PS.
New NVIDIA $40
New Power Supply 20 for a total of $60
Used computer, 3GHz Intel HT, 1 gig RAM, CD-ROM rw combo DVD
from reliable source is $120.00.

This is the way I'm going as this machine is a mere slot 1 450 MHz.
Hey, I ain't complaining, it got me online easily enough

Though RR cable is excrusiatingly sparce with useful information like
SMTP server name, POP3, NNTP ect.

They only gave me ths information after repeated requests over two days
and by then I'd gotten it all rigged by googling others with similar 
difficulties.

It seems they're only setup for Windows running Outlook Express
as it's only those automated setup utilities they cover.

Also there user provided web site may be limited to a  Flash based template.
Or. I'm not getting through my firewall.

Seamonkey _tried_ to upload my web page *once* disclaiming, site already
exists,
failed.

NOT, inviolate in the BIOS as 4 Meg.
If it can be modified it'll be in a Linux file.
I've a fair idea of where to start looking.

I would have gone 32 if that option were available and if not that, 16
however the 4 Meg in BIOS is inviolate.

Yes, I realise this however certain physical limitations 
make KDE desirable though I have come to dislike it.

I am however moving more and more in that direction, console.

I just do not trust a 145 watt PS with the power requirements 
and recommended I've seen for accellerated graphic processors.
This computer will have to do for another month or two
and then a rather major upgrade.
