I got rid of Win 98 about three days before the installation guy came by
June 10th.

I decided about 14 days ago further upgrade here was a waste.

I don't need dual core but I knoe EXACTLY what I want, used.
I've researched it in depth.

If I spend $120 for used I can get exactly what I want or I could
spend 200 for a compusa barebones system and have to add
CD-ROM rw - DVD combo.

Hey, do you happen to know if such compusa bare bones systems come with
all the screws, spacers and mounting hardware?

One would think so, but one never knows.

It sucked up $100 dollars to get online what with RAM upgrade, new network
card as the existing one was crap and not recognised, keyboard, mouse, power 
strip and surge protector.

Spent about two hours today investigating agpgart-intel, agp aperture
on google but as yet no joy.

I need to unplug the cable modem and mess around in /etc/rc.d files
as root to really get a feel for what's going on when this puppy boots
and maybe also find where those agpgart-intel files are called 
and attempt editting them.
whereis doesn't find them.

CONFIG-AGP gave me some information but seemingly mostly
unrelated, or was it an underscore in that info page, one
or the other.

Tomsrootboot on hand of course as well as I've found you can
boot to the slack install disk 1 and select just about nothing but the A
series and it'll give you the option of NOT editting or replacing the
existing /etc/rc.d rc.whatever and init files.

Nice easy fast recovery there that i've only used once before snagging

I'm a player, nothing too dangerous for me to attempt with Linux if
only for the value of the education.
Something to mess with until September.

At least it allows me access to the outside world.

Especially the library, they've a system for ordering books and DVD's 
and such via the internet.

You get access to around a dozen local branches and they'll ship to your
local branch which fortunately for me is two blocks from here.
