It'll be used as a spare backup drive either for use on the Mac or our other
PCs.  Can't be used for both at the same time because Mac backup programs
require a Mac HFS journal format.  Windows without third party software can't
read or write to that file system.

Normally I would agree about an extended warranty but with modern notebook
computers being so compact and difficult to work on, even experienced techs are
not anxious to dig into one.

Surface mounted components are another problem, that along with double sided
boards require a great deal of skill to repair.  A MacBook Pro main logic board
for example can cost as much as $700 to replace.

How often does one go out?  Not very often, but you never know.

But anyone who can repair Nikon cameras should have no trouble repairing a worm
or two!  :) :)
