That may not be true of me.

I did get a USB 3-1/2" floppy drive just after I got the XP box w/DVD
burner so I could use it to store text files, etc., things that I wanted
access to infrequently, or stuff I didn't want on my hard drive, like
Tax Information, personal stuff etc.

If I ever decide to do as you have done and go through them to put the
data on them on a CD-R or DVD+/-R I'll use the floppy drive to do that.

That will be a Monumental Task for me, as it was for you.

My 486 box isn't on the LAN (yet, if ever) but it has both 5-1/4" and
3-1/2" drives and I still have plenty of both sized floppies, even new
blank disks, never used.

The 486 also has a broken SyQuest EZ-135 drive connected to it, that is
one of my ROUNDTUITS to get another one (Parallel Connected) and then
ALL of the photos and other files on them I'd put on Optical Media as
you did your floppys.

It would help me if I got the 486 on the LAN so I could pass data from
it to the XP box.

I used that EZ-135 drive for backing up the 486 box but I wasn't careful
inserting a cartridge into it and broke something so all it is good for
now is a Boat Anchor.   :-(

It's my fault I waited for and bought the SyQuest drive.

I didn't like the Zip cartridges because the media was a flexible
material as used in floppy disks, I wanted a cartridge with hard disk
media, so I waited till it was available and got one and purchased a gob
of cartridges for it, then they went out of business and the Zip drive
continued on.

Everyone has made bad mistakes, I've made my share of them.   :-(

I keep on enjoying using my computers, so I keep on keeping on.
