Hello Wayne -

->> BlueWave OLR has an exceptionally well thought out user
->> interface that is close to intuitive after a short time
->> using it. When Y2K took it out I regretted having to
->> discontinue it's use.

->> Meanwhile some heated discussions I had had with WMcBride
->> about porting his MultiMail to 16bit DOS paid off. MM did
->> get an 'XT' version after a vociferous refusal to even
->> discuss it with me and I used MM for a time.

WC> Well you're both coders so the heated debate is no surprise.

I had intended to recode MM myself but it's C++ and never
wanted to learn C++. I do C but not C++.

WC> Had the battery pack in the Model 100 not leaked and wiped
WC> out the portable I'd have a use for the 8086 MM.

Turned out that the XT version was better for W95 than the
others were. Alan Z. was using the XT version for awhile. :-)

WC> BTW William McBrine made a change for me too but it was a
WC> simple request quickly included in the next release.

WC> Tired of writing long replys only to see them vanish when
WC> being too impatient in loading a packet I often hit enter
WC> twice and the default setting had been bye bye .rep.

Those were some of the easier changes I made to ATP. Some of
the default Y/N were wiping out my stuff so I reversed the
defaults. :-)

WC> Not the default is for the reply to stay until you TELL it
WC> to go bye. Likely this pisses off someone somewhere but I
WC> prefer it that way.

WC> I also brought a bug to his attention and that vaporized in
WC> the next release.

WMcB knows MM backwards and forwards. :-)

->> I was bored and looking for a 'project' when I came across
->> ATP v1.50 source code written in 'C'. After modifying the
->> code to compile with my older Borland C compiler I dug into
->> the code and made approximately 40 alterations completely
->> replacing _some_ routines and adding new routines as I went
->> along. ATP looks like you are on a BBS using their message
->> system and for nostalgia reasons I enjoy that plus ATP is
->> very fast here. I added a routine to search my tagline
->> database which I don't recall ever finding in another OLR.
->> Anyhow I like it. :-)

WC> Yeah gotta pick up a copy of ATP when I get a drive. Linux
WC> is my OS of choice now.

When you get situated I should send you my version of ATP for
Linux. You might like the changes/additions. :-)

WC>>> I looked it over as shareware then rather than buy it got
WC>>> SLMR21A

->> Paying for BlueWave is a bit of a farce. I suspect the
->> author is dead (he lived 40-45 miles from me). No one has
->> seen or heard from him in a long long time and the guy
->> collecting the 'registration fees' lied when he said he
->> sends the money to George. He has no way of contacting
->> George that he can prove.

WC> well ain 't that a load of...

WC>>> and from there migrated to MultiMail which can use the
WC>>> notepad replacement with spellcheck.

WC>>> We all have our preferences.

->> MultiMail is quite good and always improving because WMcB
->> keeps at it and just won't quit. :-)

WC> Which I'm grateful for, For me MM was intuitive.

WC> Of course I like VI and even have or had a copy for DOS
WC> setup in the 486, tiny little critter that is.

WC> Now for me edlin you can keep away from me.

I think, if I remember correctly, I setup my Linux version of
ATP to use PICO?
