Thay are offering those sucker bets down here too. I just send them

That is the down side of cable service. IT there is a power outage at
times you can loose service. The same gorsw fdor Cel Phone towers. Many
DO NOT have backup generators so in a disaster those that have dumped
their landline phones are without any outside communications. Althpough
here with the Wildfires burning the phone lines land line people are
in the same situation. Except for the HAMS of course. :-)  :-)  :-)
I have a Group 31 Battery for my backup and that will run me at 5 watts
for quite a while.
With the old memory go fast I have had to cut way back on my
participation in a small church sponsored Emergenct Team. As my last
contribution I set up a smal station for them with a nice take down
Antenna,10 Foor Comet 2 meter, and an Alinco 2 meter mobile and a
Battery power supply sized for 24 hour no commercial power operation,
caclulated on the basis of 10% transmitting time at 5 watts.
