I hope the Canadian Digital TV Convertor boxes they sell up thar don't
have the Automatic Power Down function on them.

What I am talking about is: Both Magavox Digital TV Convertor boxes I
have here came with a Default set up to power it down after 2 hours of
use.

I looked on the convertors menu to see it that could be turned off,
it couldn't, the only options that was offered to change to, were 3 or 4
hours.

So I set it for 4 hours.

If the Digital TV convertor box stays on the same Channel for around
3 hours and 59 minutes or so, a message appears on the TV screen WARNING
that it WILL power down by its self if no buttons are pressed on the
remote control.

Just pressing the UP-DOWN channel button  UP and then DOWN to the
channel you were watching resets the Power Down Timer.

We've been in another room before and not seeing this message the box
does shut its self OFF all by its self.

That is a Function I wish they hadn't put in.

Ages ago, there was a TV Special we wanted to record on our Analog VCR,
but we were going to be out of town for several days, so we set the VCR
for that Date and Time and Channel and hoped that the power didn't fail
while we were gone away from home.

That was done successfully with the Analog VCR that time, but now with
this Feature built in the Digital TV Convertor box we never will be able
to do that again with the current equipment we have.

Four hours IS four hours, and if a button isn't pressed on the
remote control for the box during the four hour period
it will shut off.

Above. I mentioned I had two Digital TV Convertor boxes.

The first one we bought didn't have the Analog TV Pass-Through feature
that ALLOWS a person to also watch a Analog TV station when the
Convertor box is turned OFF.

I took that first box off the main tv set in the living room and put it
on my tv set here in the computer room.

I connected the second Convertor box to the tv in the living room so we
could watch the one remaining Analog TV station if we wanted to, without
having to switch antenna wires around.
