Ärende: Lets provoke some debate.

Hello All!

When you shop for consumer electronics at whatever retailer..

* Do you expect the sales person to sit and watch you think?

* Are you not responsible for doing some of your research ahead of time, ie
knowing what it is you want?

* Do you think the sales person is paid to state which items his retailer pays
them to sell, suck?

* Do you pump the help at one retailer for product knowledge then buy the
product from a competitor?

* Do you think of the telephone as a religious icon to be worshipped and
conduct your life on it?

* When you use the telephone to reach out to a retailer, do you feel that at
the time of your call, there are no other cutomers physically inside the store
being waited on or needing to be waited on?

* On the same topic of telephones, do you assume that the person whom picks up
the call, just happens to be in the department you need help in and five feet
away from the display that contains the merchandise pertinent to your call?

* Staying on the telephone topic, your retailer has advertised a xyz widget at
a very good price, but states each store has a limited qty  and is limiting
only one per customer. Do you call ahead and ask them to hold one for you til
you get off of work, get mad when they turn  you down, failing to realize that
this isnt fair to those customers whom drove on in to see if they could get
one?

* Speaking of limited quantities.. Do you feel that the planets inventory all
gets shipped to you retailer in your city? When the retailer says limit one per
customer that that applies only to "the other customers", or that all of a
sudden shopping becomes a family affair and  by some strange coincedence
everyone in the family wanted the same thing and demand to be checked out
separately, pretending to not know  each other?

* Do you assume that when looking at Printers or software, that your sales
person owns every single printer and software title the retailer sells and can
give you a first person testimonial?

* Do you think the sales people are lower class citizens and servants and its
ok for them to babysit and clean up after, your children?

* When looking for printer ink, how come its so easy to miss a 6' X 4' sign
hanging across from the entrance stating that underneath it is where the ink is
at, instead one goes to the paperclip aisle and asks where the printer ink is?

* Speaking of printer ink, do you think that telling your sales person that you
think your printer is made by "HP" and you provide nor do  you know any other
details, that your sales person magically knows which cartridges you need?
(Folks I got this in the autoparts business  too)

* When your retailer sends out coupons or otherwise publishes other policies,
its ok for you not to read the fine print and then blame the store personel for
your failure to have done so?

  (I always maintained that if the Hardee's Food chain advertised on a
billboard, Hotdogs for 75 Cents, On Tuesdays and Thurdays, the   people I
describe above would see the 75 cents and not the Tuesday and Thursday)

* Do you think that when your retailer of choice runs out of an item,
advertised or not, that the sales person whom informs you of this, is
personally responsible for that fact, had conspired from birth to ruin your day
and then you feel its okay to verbally berate that  person?

* Do you think that arriving at and entering your favorite retailer 5 minutes
before they close makes it okay for you to take your sweet  time after they
have closed?

* After having purchased whatever product from your favorite retailer, what is
the time frame you feel is fair for the retailer to allow  for a refund or
exchange, before the manufacturers Federally mandated warranty takes over? (We
have a 14 day policy for tech)

  (Had a man come in last month, receipt and everything, for a telephone he
purchased and did not open the box, back in 2002 and he   expected a refund!)

* Service after the sale is a good thing, but what is a reasonable period of
time for such?

* When you check out, you finally get your turn at the cashier, but there are
people behind you, is this the time to quiz the cashier on  questions you cant
expect her to know the answers to, or present her with a dilemma that forces
her to leave the register to fetch  something you should have?

* When you check out, you are with a group of people, lets say 3+ including
yourself, all adults, but you are the only one making a  purchase, why do they
have to stand in line with you, making the line appear to others to be 3 to 4
times longer than it really is?

* If it is not ok for the sales help to be on the cellphone yakking and
texting, why is it ok for you to be when you are being helped?

  (Ok the customer is the business, but holding a sales person hostage while
one yaks on the phone is over the top, when others are needing help )

This is what I see everyday and for the better part of my 30 years in retail..
