Ärende: Lets provoke some debate.
=================================
Been Having a Bad day there Ross. The typical customer is dumb as a
box of rocks, get used to it.

And YES most concider themsleves to be the ONLY customer you are dealing
with and demand ALL of your time no matter how stupid they get.
My tollerance level is somewhat low so I never considered any type of
sales job. In fact I an decidedly a behind the scenes person that best
has NO customer contact at all. ;-) :-)

RC>When you shop for consumer electronics at whatever retailer..

RC>* Do you expect the sales person to sit and watch you think?

RC>* Are you not responsible for doing some of your research ahead of time, ie
RC>knowing what it is you want?

RC>* Do you think the sales person is paid to state which items his retailer pa
RC>them to sell, suck?

RC>* Do you pump the help at one retailer for product knowledge then buy the
RC>product from a competitor?

RC>* Do you think of the telephone as a religious icon to be worshipped and
RC>conduct your life on it?

RC>* When you use the telephone to reach out to a retailer, do you feel that at
RC>the time of your call, there are no other cutomers physically inside the sto
RC>being waited on or needing to be waited on?

RC>* On the same topic of telephones, do you assume that the person whom picks
RC>the call, just happens to be in the department you need help in and five fee
RC>away from the display that contains the merchandise pertinent to your call?

RC>* Staying on the telephone topic, your retailer has advertised a xyz widget
RC>a very good price, but states each store has a limited qty and is limiting
RC>only one per customer. Do you call ahead and ask them to hold one for you ti
RC>you get off of work, get mad when they turn you down, failing to realize th
RC>this isnt fair to those customers whom drove on in to see if they could get
RC>one?

RC>* Speaking of limited quantities.. Do you feel that the planets inventory al
RC>gets shipped to you retailer in your city? When the retailer says limit one
RC>customer that that applies only to "the other customers", or that all of a
RC>sudden shopping becomes a family affair and by some strange coincedence
RC>everyone in the family wanted the same thing and demand to be checked out
RC>separately, pretending to not know each other?

RC>* Do you assume that when looking at Printers or software, that your sales
RC>person owns every single printer and software title the retailer sells and c
RC>give you a first person testimonial?

RC>* Do you think the sales people are lower class citizens and servants and it
RC>ok for them to babysit and clean up after, your children?

RC>* When looking for printer ink, how come its so easy to miss a 6' X 4' sign
RC>hanging across from the entrance stating that underneath it is where the ink
RC>at, instead one goes to the paperclip aisle and asks where the printer ink i

RC>* Speaking of printer ink, do you think that telling your sales person that
RC>think your printer is made by "HP" and you provide nor do you know any othe
RC>details, that your sales person magically knows which cartridges you need?
RC>(Folks I got this in the autoparts business too)

RC>* When your retailer sends out coupons or otherwise publishes other policies
RC>its ok for you not to read the fine print and then blame the store personel
RC>your failure to have done so?

RC> (I always maintained that if the Hardee's Food chain advertised on a
RC>billboard, Hotdogs for 75 Cents, On Tuesdays and Thurdays, the people I
RC>describe above would see the 75 cents and not the Tuesday and Thursday)

RC>* Do you think that when your retailer of choice runs out of an item,
RC>advertised or not, that the sales person whom informs you of this, is
RC>personally responsible for that fact, had conspired from birth to ruin your
RC>and then you feel its okay to verbally berate that person?

RC>* Do you think that arriving at and entering your favorite retailer 5 minute
RC>before they close makes it okay for you to take your sweet time after they
RC>have closed?

RC>* After having purchased whatever product from your favorite retailer, what
RC>the time frame you feel is fair for the retailer to allow for a refund or
RC>exchange, before the manufacturers Federally mandated warranty takes over? (
RC>have a 14 day policy for tech)

RC> (Had a man come in last month, receipt and everything, for a telephone he
RC>purchased and did not open the box, back in 2002 and he expected a refund!

RC>* Service after the sale is a good thing, but what is a reasonable period of
RC>time for such?

RC>* When you check out, you finally get your turn at the cashier, but there ar
RC>people behind you, is this the time to quiz the cashier on questions you ca
RC>expect her to know the answers to, or present her with a dilemma that forces
RC>her to leave the register to fetch something you should have?

RC>* When you check out, you are with a group of people, lets say 3+ including
RC>yourself, all adults, but you are the only one making a purchase, why do th
RC>have to stand in line with you, making the line appear to others to be 3 to
RC>times longer than it really is?

RC>* If it is not ok for the sales help to be on the cellphone yakking and
RC>texting, why is it ok for you to be when you are being helped?

RC> (Ok the customer is the business, but holding a sales person hostage while
RC>one yaks on the phone is over the top, when others are needing help )

RC>This is what I see everyday and for the better part of my 30 years in retail
RC>:-)
