Evolution isn't all that bad on my little Dell toy, and works for me for access
to my JamNNTP server across the LAN (which came as a surprise at the time that
I set it up [Evolution]).  Compared with OutLook et al, and T-bird, it has some
awkward menu options but that is probably more a 'familiarity' thing than
anything else.  It's not a bad piece of software in actuality, though its
message filtering capability seems to have a rough edge or three.

Recently, I shied away from webmail after being 'bitten' twice in two years by
a provider having either had a catastrophic meltdown or undergone a software
change.  On both occasions I effectively lost all email that had been saved
(historically-speaking) and address books.  This is not a good thing for the
account was set up (by someone else) for the local gun club that I am the
secretary for.  I've reverted to doing the POP thing from my own T-bird config,
and sending via my own SMTP server.

P.S.  Perhaps it's a "good thing"(tm) that you're retiring as there is at least
one unnecessary apostrophe in your sentence above.  ;-)
