Jean,

Your comment above about the Rescue CD running in RAM had me thinking.

I really don't know how the Live U'u 7.04 CD I have played with a couple
of times, does it job.

I will have to pay attention next time I use it to see if there is any
CD activity AFTER booting up the CD.

I still kinda think like I said in my comment in the line below that you
quoted.

JP> EV> I admit, I don't know much, but I'd think I could Boot from the TI CD I
JP> EV> made, just using the BIOS in the XP SP3 computer to do it.

I guess if I experimented enough I would find out what was what,
wouldn't I?

JP> EV> very BAD happened to the computer.

JP> This is where we differ.

Remember when I wrote this last post to you, I did comment about I could
install the XP SP2 OS using the DVD set they asked me to make of their
D:\ Recovery Partition.

That would give me an OS that I could do (mostly) anything with,
computer wise.

---snip---

JP> When you do this ( if ! ), you will see that there is no HDD activity, I

I agree about seeing NO HDD activity, using the TI Restore CD.

Again, I will have to check out the U'u 7.04 CD to see if the CD LED
comes on ant time AFTER U'u boots up, because I would think the results
would be the same in using U'u or if using the TI Restore CD.

It's early today, I will put that down on my ROUNDTUIT list (which are a
bunch of scrap pieces of paper notes laying on my desk that I mark down
thing I want to do, as I think about them, and I mark a line through the
part of the note after I tried the project.

.-... as I take time to write down the note.

The note has been made, now I have to do what it says. ;-)

I will get back to you on this

JP> EV> Just as Acronis wanted me to make a Bootable CD, so did HP when they
JP> EV> suggested that I Burn a set of CDs or DVDs with the data they put on
JP> EV> their 8GB Restore Partition.

JP> Ed, this HP DVD is a twin to the TI clone, it is bootable and it will redo
JP>whole OS, nothing for you to move. But, a large but, it will be like "out of
JP>the box", you will have lost all. A TI clone takes you back to your last clo
JP>not to day-1, OoTB situation.

Yep, it does set the computer up as it was on Day One, but then I could
add what ever software I needed to it, I could even Install TI on it and
then Restore my last backup using the Real Thing, instead of the TI boot
CD. ;-)

JP> You are getting closer and closer all the time, Ed.

As long as I am NOT GETTING "TO" YOU.

I'm enjoying the conversation, wondering why someone else, who would
have more knowledge on the subject, hasn't commented yet, to help us
out.

Of course, I haven't read all the posts in this .QWK packet yet and
someone or even you may have set me straight and I just haven't read it
yet. ;-)

BTW, the symbol above that I used, ".-..." means, "Please Wait." in the
International Morse Code.

I didn't know if you used Morse Code (CW) on your Amateur Radio Station
or not, so I put it in there so those who do, such as Holger, would get
a Giggle out of it when they saw it.

I just remembered your experience as a Canadian Air Force Pilot, and it
got me thinking that you would know CW, but you may not know that
particular abbreviated signal, because if you are flying a F-86, there
is no time to ask someone to wait while flying greater than 200 Miles
Per Hour, on a mission. ;-)
