I am not as Technically Knowledgeable as You are about this RJ-45 stuff.

The Yellow cable came from AT&T in the package with the Siemens
SpeedStream 4100 DSL Modem and it was connected between my XP box and
the DSL Modem first.

When Jay Emrie sent me a Linksys router I unplugged it from the DSL
Modem and put it in one of the four Socket on the router and used
another cable to connect the Common Socket on the router to the DSL
Modem.

Does that clear anything up???

My thoughts are the cable wiring wasn't as complicated here in my
computer shack as You wrote above.      ;-)
