Unlike most WiFi routers which can be accessed with a browser, entering an IP
address and then user-name/password, you'll need to download and install a
utility to setup/configure an Apple Airport - there are both Mac and Windows
versions of the utility.

If it's new, in box, etc, there's probably a CD with it - if not, the utilities
can be downloaded - here's a link for the Windows version, for instance:

After installing it, and plugging in the router, it should be straightforward -
assuming we're looking at a relatively modern version of the Airport router.

A couple of things to be aware of:
- Apple first started selling 'Airport' WiFi routers around 1999 or so, when
they were among the first relatively affordable 802.11x routers, so there have
been a bunch of models - the first several generations are round and look
somewhat like a flying saucer. Photos in the Wikipedia article
- More recently, Apple has sold an 'Airport Extreme' which was initially an
802.11g and more recently 802.11n model, with ethernet ports, a USB port (for
printer or hard drive sharing) plus WiFi. As well, there's a small Airport
Express model... nice for travellers who want WiFi in hotel rooms with wired
access only.

It'll help to know what you've got, since all Airports are not created equal.
