My Dial Up cost recently before I went AT&T DSL was 34.45 per month. I
did have a dedicated dial up modem line though. So the lowest tier DSL
at $19.95 is a $15 per month saving. Whiel I now do not have to go to
the library twice a week to download larger files the DSL is
significantly slower then what I could get during the First hour, I
always got there at opening time and downloaded the largest files
first the Library. I Get between 65 and 70 Bytes per second at homw
where the library was giving me 200 to 600 Bytes per second until the
increasing number of users as time went by loaded down the system.

I don't know it I could ever do that after all my years on FIDO.
Although except for a Hard Core grpoup like we have here FIDO is dying a
slow death.

The Cap for regualr AT&T DSL users(All copper wire from the Central
office to your Home)will be 150 GIG per month.

Those with AT&T U-Verse DSL(Fiber to neighorhood distribution boxes and
then copper to your house)Will have a 250 GIG per month cap on
downloads.

I think I can live with those limits.
PLUS the UP side it could shield us from any future price increase to
subsidize the Download Hogs and the Video Streamers.
Whom by the way are riding on our backs right now. Dnadwidth is NOT free
and in al fairness those that use the MOST should pay more.

AT&T Caps Monthly Downloads

AT&T is imposing a maximum monthly download limit for its broadband
customers. It's a move more reminiscent of smartphone data plans, where
bandwidth is more restricted.

Under the new policy, which begins in May, DSL users will be allowed to
download up to 150GB of data per month, a cap that's raised to 250GB for
those on the U-Verse service which delivers fiber optic cable right to
the customer's home. The company estimates that around 2 per cent of
customers will be affected by the limit. (Source: dslreports.com)
$10 for 50GB Overage Fee to Apply

Those who exceed the limits won't face a slowdown or loss of service.
Instead, they'll become eligible to pay an "overage" fee if and when
they exceed the monthly limit on three different occasions. The fee is
$10 for every 50GB over the limit. Users will be informed when they have
hit 65%, 90% and 100% of the monthly limit.

Most people won't consider the limits unreasonable. That said, somebody
who streams a lot of high definition movies or TV shows could easily
smash the limit.
