The hyped connection of burning ethanol for fuel and global warming always
escaped me.... ethanol is used to replace petroleum - so burning domestic
ethanol in place of imported petroleum is good economically (at least if it
doesn't result in food shortages or higher prices!), and corn is certainly
renewable while petroleum isn't... but CO2 emissions are the result of burning
anything - ethanol, gas, wood, coal.... replacing one with the other won't make
any change in CO2 emissions!

So it's not clear to me how it's saving the planet.
