The second BBS I used was a GTPOWER BBS (about 1985 or '86?), the first
BBS I joined was a Commodore BBS, I also used an Apple/Mac BBS before I
started using a FIDO BBS.

I was using a C=64 to connect to BBS's until Feb 1994 when I got a 486
computer with MS-DOS 5.

I read about others using QWK long before I got the MS-DOS 5 box and
sometime in 1994(?) I started using SLMR so I didn't keep the telephone
line busy all the time reading messages on BBS's.

Do You recall when FIDO got the QWK Door?
I'd suppose FIDO and GTPOWER Both probably got the QWK Door about the
same time.
I looked at Wikipedia and didn't see what year either system got QWK.

The QWK Door was in place when I began using the GTPOWER BBS to read
echos about DOS and WINDOWS etc. with my C=64 PC.

QWK may have it flaws, but so do I, and even though I have DSL internet
now and I can receive telephone calls when I'm on the internet, I still
prefer reading Offline instead of reading messages while on a BBS.
