Ärende: Battery.
================
EV> It has a Shuttle HOT 409 motherboard in it and the BIOS is an AMI
 EV> Version 2.2 dated 11/11/1992.

from what i see, J1 determines if you are using the internal or an external
battery... a jumper on pins 1&2 is for the internal battery... a jumper on pins
2&3 is for an external battery...

what pins are jumpered on J1? any? you don't mention a jumper on J1 so i can
only assume no pins are jumpered... this would indicate that one of the pins is
a blank (no electrical connection) and so not having a jumper on it would be
the same as if it were jumpered...

EV> The BIOS Battery is about the shape of a C Cell but it has Wires
EV> attached to it that are soldered to the motherboard.

i would call this an internal battery but this also depends on how it is
mounted... remember, i spoke of soldering a new battery in place by using a kit
with wires... did you by this board new and it came like this or??

the documentation i've seen shows a multi-cell battery soldered onto the
motherboard near the keyboard plug and where the power connector from the power
supply plug in... is this battery still in place or no?? it sounds like it has
already been removed and replaced with what you have now... is this where your
battery is soldered to?

EV> I found infomation for it on the internet.

EV> J1 has 4 terminals one of them keyed, it is for the Battery.

EV> I found information for it on the internet, I think mine is the 2.2
EV> version although I found another page without a version
EV> number but the J1 terminals is keyed on the other side

somewhere on the motherboard is a version number silkscreened just like the
logo... you may not be able to see it very well if the cards are all plugged
in... generally on the edge by the slots furthest away from the power supply...
there or in between the slots... sometimes they are on the back, too...

none of the pictures i see of the motherboard are "real"... they're all black
and while conversions or such... actually, i did find one but it was small and
zooming in on it wasn't very helpful... but it did show a multi-cell in the
same place as described previously... the v1 of this board has a single flat
cell like the 2032 talked about before...

EV> Any idea of which terminal is Plus and Minus and what Voltage does
EV> it want an External Battery to be?

this J1 appears to be only a jumper block to select one or the other of
internal (mounted on the MB) or external (connected to another pin block)...
i've not seen anything indicating what other pin block would be used for an
external battery, though...

EV> I looked at onlybatteries.com but didn't see anything on the page
EV> to locate a BIOS battery so I could learn the voltage it needs.

yeah, you likely won't find it on a battery site... it is a very old board,
really... i don't think i have one laying around here, either... we used to
sell the shuttle boards way back... in fact, all the MBs i have here have all
have the batteries cut off of them to try to protect the MB from battery
leakage... i did that when i discovered one or two that were being damaged by
leaking batteries... so i removed all of them, inspected, cleaned and repaired
those i could... those i could not were trashed after salvaging everything else
off of them that i could...
