it sounds like it has gone to the print spool and may be sitting in there
waiting for something to be done to send it on to the printer... but that's a
guess based on your text...

you have to remember that *nix has been created by geeks for geeks... it has
only been recently that attempts to make it easier for the common joe have come
around but there is still the problem of something is only developed if it
benefits the developer...

as an example: i have an old parallel port ZIP100... it used to work but then
as newer stuff came out, the development and maint of the software was left
behind because those who developed and used it had also moved on to newer
hardware... IF i could find the original code, i /might/ be able to bring it
back to life for my needs but that's as far as i would probably go... if others
tried it and it worked, great... otherwise, sorry 'cause i only need it to do
this and have no way of testing that...

looks are only skin deep... you can easily change the look... i have on every
one of my installs... it just takes some bit of time to do it...

there should not be any problems using HP printers... especially since they are
one of the most popular ones... hopefully the one you have is not a "cheap"
winprinter that requires special drivers to be loaded on the computer to do all
the real work...
