 That may seem to be the case, but it's not possible.

 Note first, that domain names are cosmetic only; they are resolved
 to numerical IPs that reflect the actual site.

 Here are the results from pinging the three addresses:


Pinging www.docsplace.org [66.230.220.121] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 66.230.220.121: bytes=32 time=54ms TTL=47


Pinging docsplace.tzo.com [24.96.77.64] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 24.96.77.64: bytes=32 time=68ms TTL=237


Pinging docsplace.no-ip.info [24.96.77.64] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 24.96.77.64: bytes=32 time=55ms TTL=237

You can see that tzo.com and no-ip.info are 24.96.77.64.  Docsplace.org
is 66.230.220.221.

You do understand that a site can have only one IP, don't you?

24.96.77.64 is the BBS.  Both of the BBS links on the web page at
www.docplace.org point to 24.96.77.64.  Check it yourself by
clicking on the properties of the links. ;-)

FWIW, domain names are cosmetic only, and users pay a registration
fee for convenience for their users, so they don't have to try
to memorize IPs.

Doc had registered a domain name for this IP, probably from a totally
separate domain provider than the one for the docsplace.org domain,
and it was this registration that was expiring.

That didn't mean that the BBS was going down.  It simply meant that
the DNS server would no longer resolve the hostname to the IP.  You
could enter the IP and still connect.
