I read about that security suggestion also but always thought it referred
to "your" administrator account not the system default.

Good information to know.  The part you left out though is make a complete
backup of everything before you attempt this. <g>  As I read the above it
reminded me of trying to change the default "administrator" account on a
XP Home machine that had a duplicated system administrator account. The
system would not allow anyone to log off or shut down because it always
"thought" the "administrator" was logged on.

It took a recovery install to cure the problem.  If I would have known
about the registry edit you pointed out, one of the dupe accounts could
have been deleted.  The problem with XP Home is that the system designated
"administrator" account can not be accessed except from Safe Mode.  A real
pain but probably a good safety feature for most users of the Home
edition.
