The original question was not entirely clear but I believe Alan gave the
correct answer to his question.

As for the system "administrator" named account - In XP Home edition it
doesn't show up under normal circumstances.  Any named account with
administrator rights is different and in addition to the system
administrator account.  The system administrator account in XP Home can
only be accessed from Safe Mode.

XP Pro edition is different since all accounts including the system
administrator and named accounts can be accessed from normal mode.

As for why you would want to change it - see Jeff's reply.  For Pro
anyway, it's a recommended security measure.

Also, in case you are not aware, you should never do your normal computing
with administrative rights.  Always log on as a user with limited rights.
That's a good procedure to follow for additional security protection.

I get notified in my system tray of any updates.  Easier to keep up with them
that way.
